We had a great day together- accomplished alot on the Cobossecontee Stream. Wintry but lovely!
As usual, it was almost a party, even though we had so much to do, but the board of directors is comprised of such a dedicated and active group of women. We all enjoy one another's company and respect the perspective that each of us brings to the board. We share the vision of supporting our membership and guests, and providing opportunities for them and for our beneficiary non-profits.
Can I add that we all can really cook well? And I'm not just talking about our board of directors! We're considering a designing women cookbook. I think the good food helps the great creative ideas to flow.
The Camden show, our newest, will be our most intimate with 19 exhibitors. And right on Rte 1, on the first Saturday of September. It should be a blast.
We have a new twist to add to the mix- our first show of the year, in Portland, Saturday May 2, will be our first-ever studio clean-out show! Seconds, discontinued designs, and more, all at special sale prices. A great opportunity to benefit from our spring cleaning. We must make room for the new work!
That brings us up to eight shows in Maine and one in Portsmouth, NH. We're researching the possibility of adding a couple more shows in Maine and New Hampshire in 2010 -11. As we get closer to solidifying the details, we'll let you know.
Besides the details of updating operating guidelines at our annual meeting, (So helpful to the board of directors, but I know, yawn for you. So I won't include them. ), we welcomed the addition of six new juried guests for 2009, ranging from lampworked glass beads to handweaving to fine furniture.
You'll just have to come to the shows and see everyone...

With the kids help I finally figured out how to get into the blog and then of course post.
Happy New Year!!! Its going to be a fun one. I like odd numbers.
I have had a couple fun exciting things happen to me.
1. I have used Laguna Clay products and materials for a long time. They have a featured artists page on their website and after submitting my images, etc I was put up on their site. Go to
www.lagunaclay.com and check out the link to Featured Artists. It was really fun to do and then see my work on this site
2. I will be having a piece in the L/A Arts upcoming exhibit "Up Close and Personal" at Gallery 5 in Lewiston. The show opens in Feb. Attached is a picture of the piece that will be in the exhibit.
The opening will be on website for Gallery 5 link on LA Arts website.
Ok off to do the dreaded paperwork one must do every year.
Have a wonderful day

OK, one more menopausal artist joining the blog!
As always, it was great to see everyone at the shows. Thanks to all the new show directors, and the 'experienced' ones, too, for a great show season with designing women.
As we reach out to younger artists and customers, the rest of us will be learning lots of new things (like how to blog!!!) Since winter is always the time for artists to reflect, re-energise and create, we might as well all add "learn new(techie) things" to our list!! Last winter I had a great time -well, ok, sometimes it was REALLY frustrating!- learning how to create the show postcards. I got to feel much more comfortable with design software and all those other issues that were part of the project, and even used those skills for other projects. And my brain did NOT explode while puzzling over a computer mystery! ( Genius Jones usually solved my mysteries!)
Have a peaceful, fruitful winter-see all our show directors at the annual meeting TBA.

Snow, No Snow
When I arrived home from the Freeport show last Saturday, things had a light dusting of snow. Then, yesterday, everything was covered! It was all so pretty! But, last night's rain and wind took care of it. Still, it gets me in a holiday mood.
Kari and her crew have been busy working on the show in Portsmouth. Kind of a tight schedule to set up a show the day after Thanksgiving! Portsmouth has such an old fashioned atmosphere and the church location adds to it. Good luck to all that are going. With all the buzz about shopping local, you're bound to be busy.
Don't eat too much tomorrow! I'll be thankful to work with an amazing group of women in addition to all the other wonderful things in my life.

I went to sign on and found out I had a blog already!!!! something the kid set up for me so I posted.
This will be fun. I don't have any news. Still trying to find the instructions for making ice from scratch. I had fun in Freeport and am looking forward to our next shows.
Have a great T-day everyone.

Bangor show
We had a great time in Bangor! I posted some photos from it in the slide show. We helped to raise over $1350. for the Mabel Wadsworth Women's Health Center. The location at Husson was easy for most of us to load in and out plus easy for everyone to find. We'll be there again next year.
