Designing Women Celebrates 20th Year With Three Fantastic Holiday Shows

We have three beautiful Holiday shows to round out our 2011 season! Join us as we help support Women, Work & Community, A Safe Place and Safe Passage!

We are delighted to return to Freeport for the 7th year and our largest Freeport show ever! Over 24 talented lady artisans and craftswomen will be at the Merriconeag Waldorf School (57 Desert Rd.) on November 19th from 9am-4pm.

This juried show features several artists who have exhibited and taught nationally including Jo Diggs, Michelle Henning and, Stephanie Sersich. Also exhibiting is Stephanie Crossman of Gram J’s Nets who was recognized by Martha Stewart.

A large gift basket filled with unique products, made and donated by the show’s exhibitors will be raffled off. All proceeds from the raffle, food sales, and the suggested $2 entrance fee directly support WWC’s community-based services.

Jo Diggs

Housed in the Frank Jones Center, our Portsmouth show is our largest of the year. On November 26th from 9am-4pm, we welcome over 30 of our members to create a unique and memorable shopping/browsing experience. We specialize in gifts you will love to give and the opportunity to meet the artist behind every piece.

Our benefiting non-profit, A Safe Place, was founded in 1976 to prevent and eliminate domestic abuse. They provide free shelter and support services to those that are in need.

Folk Singers - A Celebration of Spirit by Suzanne Connor

Our final show of the year will take place on December 10th from 9am-4pm at Woodford's Church in Portland. Always a beautiful show featuring over twenty artisans, our Portland show is a celebration of the year's end and our mission to support local non-profits.

We will have snacks and a luncheon available, with all proceeds and the suggested $2 door donation going directly to Safe Passage.

November in Bangor

Our November show in Bangor is fast approaching! We are very excited to return to northern Maine with a fantastic group of female artisans and a wonderful non-profit!

Why not start your Holiday shopping before the madness and snow appears? We have fun, sentimental, soothing, and lasting gifts; all handcrafted locally. Come and learn the process of throwing pots, sculpture methods, and jewelry construction. One of the best part of our shows is the opportunity to meet the actual artist!

Spruce Run is a wonderful non-profit with offices in Bangor and Millinocket. Their mission is to provide information and support to people of all ages affected by abuse and domestic violence throughout Penobscot County, including the greater Bangor area, Lincoln, Millinocket, and Newport, Maine. 


Please join us on November 5th, 2011 from 9am - 4pm at the Center for Family Business at Husson University. All proceeds from the door donation, luncheon and snacks will directly benefit Spruce Run.

Labor Day 2011

Camden is beautiful in the summer (winter, fall and spring). This Labor Day, Designing Women is returning to the First Congregational Church on Rte. 1 to celebrate summer's passage into fall. Join us for a spectacular show featuring over twenty of the best local lady artisans!

Our benefiting non-profit is New Hope for Women. The suggested $2 door donation and all luncheon and snack proceeds will be donated directly to assist women, men, their children, friends, family and all people affected by domestic and dating violence.

Celebrate Summer with Designing Women and Longfellow's Greenhouse

This year we decided to change things up a bit and start our show season at the fabulous Longfellow's Greenhouses in Manchester, Maine.

This is our 5th consecutive year partnering with Longfellow's, and as in previous years, Longfellow's has great sales planned. In addition, our beloved non-profit, The Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center is celebrating their 25th year of providing such a vital service to Central Maine! We are thrilled to help out such a great organization! A Touch of Health will also be on hand, providing chair massages.

D & E Metalworks

Twenty-five of Maine's best artists/craftswomen will be exhibiting on August 27th, 2011 from 9:30am-4:30pm. The suggested $2 door donation and snacks/luncheon proceeds will directly benefit the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center. Please join us for amazing art, fantastic sales, and a wonderful cause!
